The Tax Lab (Pty) Ltd (“The Company”) is a 100% Swati owned and managed professional services firm incorporated and domiciled in the Kingdom of Eswatini. Its offices are based in Manzini, the hub of Eswatini which serves as a central place to many people and businesses.  The Company provides boutique tax and financial management education, due diligence services, corporate services, advisory and research services to small, medium and large enterprises both in the private and public sectors in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

The Company was established in 2019 with registration no. R7/54056. Its existence is the culmination of a passionate vision of its founders having identified market gaps in general and in specialized areas of taxation (including tax education) in the Kingdom of Eswatini where little to no capacity building services are adequately provided to taxpayers.

Tax awareness plays a pivotal role in driving business and boosting the country’s economic growth and the well-being of its citizens. As The Tax Lab, we are committed to shaping the future of the tax profession and continuous advocacy of the tax system for the benefit of all, through the advancement of tax knowledge to the entire emaSwati nation.

Our services include; accounting system design & implementation, financial Accounting, budgeting and asset account management.

TAX ADVISORY

The tax advisory function has a primary role of aiding our clients with the everyday tax challenges which they are confronted with. By understanding and critically analysing their problems, we are able to create tailored advisory solutions which are best suited for our clients’ needs. Areas of focus are; Tax compliance, tax advisory, tax due diligence, cross border transactions, corporate income tax, value added tax (VAT) and e-tax services.

PAYROLL ADMINISTRATION

Based on the different categories of clients, we also offer payroll outsourcing and financial transactions capturing.

TAX DUE DILIGENCE SERVICES

Our focus areas in tax due diligence services include independent investigations in the target company’s operating status, financial status and tax status. Additionally, we conduct a comprehensive overview of the target company’s compliance with respect to its normal business processes.

With the growth in size of corporations in Eswatini, corporate governance has become all the more important. Corporate governance refers to a combination of laws, regulations, procedures, implicit rules and voluntary practices which help companies to perform efficiently and maximize long-term value of shareholders whilst taking care of the interests of other stakeholders such as government, suppliers, society etc.

NOMPUMELELO W. DLAMINI

Managing Director/ Tax Compliance Expert

Nompumelelo has over 30 years’ remarkable experience in financial management across diverse industries including manufacturing, agriculture, social security, telecommunications and revenue administration.

She served in various executive positions in entities such as MTN Eswatini & Uganda, Eswatini Posts & Telecommunication Corporation, Eswatini National Provident Fund with the last one being that of Commissioner, Domestic Taxes at Eswatini Revenue Service, where she focused on taxpayer compliance management. With the knowledge and expertise acquired at the Eswatini Revenue Authority, Nompumelelo is the tax compliance expert at The Tax Lab.

She is currently the Board Chairman at MTN Eswatini and Liberty Life Swaziland and a member of the Board of Trustees at Save the Children Eswatini.

NSIZWA F. MUTASA

Technical, Training & Research Director

Nsizwa is a seasoned tax professional whose more than 10 years’ experience spans academia, tax administration and corporate advisory. Nsizwa has a BCom (Accounting & Tax) degree from Rhodes University and a BCom Honours (Taxation) from the University of Pretoria.

It was at the University of Pretoria where he spent the initial part of his career developing and lecturing tax specific capacity building initiatives under the supervision of leading tax minds. His passion for teaching & learning is driven by his desire to break down complex issues for layman to understand. Seeing opportunities in his home country of Eswatini, Nsizwa joined the Eswatini Revenue Service (ESRS) as a technical tax training specialist where he eventually became its Manager responsible for technical training and taxpayer education.

He was instrumental in developing its flagship modular training program resulting in the training of over 160+ ERS personnel in its technical domestic tax issues. In this role, he also led taxpayer education initiatives to the taxpayer community at large.

During this time at ERS he completed the Summer Program in Tax & Development at the Policy Research Institute in the Czech Republic.

Nsizwa has been exposed to numerous international tax conferences in the areas of tax & policy, the BEPS project under the OECD and extractive industry taxation. He has a diverse knowledge base in strategy, tax planning and advisory and tax compliance.

Nsizwa is a member of the South Africa Institute of Tax Practitioners (SAIT) and is currently a Tax Manager responsible for the tax function at a leading agri-manufacturing business in Eswatini. His involvement in Tax Lab is on an advisory capacity.

THABSILE P. NTSHALINTSHALI

Financial Director / Tax Audit Expert

Thabsile has a substantial amount of experience gained through her career as a qualified accountant in public practice, academically and through international exposure. Previously, she co-founded an internationally licensed accounting firm in the Kingdom of Eswatini and became one of its partners. She possesses extensive experience in both the private and public sector environment. Thabsile is a detail-oriented, goal-focused and results-driven professional with over 16 years of remarkable experience in internal and external audit functions, statutory compliance, financial management, financial reporting, Eswatini tax and company laws and management of business strategies.

In her career, she worked closely with the Eswatini Revenue Service on developing innovative tax solutions to issues that impact taxpayers, and has been involved in various workshops to train and refresh taxpayers across the country on topical and salient income tax issues. She is well known for strong monitoring and adherence to policies, rules, guidelines and regulations, analytical problem-solving abilities and rectifying multi-faceted situations.

Thabsile has served in various boards within the private and the public sector in Eswatini. Currently, she chairs the Audit and Finance Committee for the Small Enterprises Development Company (SEDCO).

Prior to joining The Tax Lab, Thabsile participated in a fellowship program in the United States of America where she completed an intensive module on comparative taxation for nine (9) industrialized countries at Boston University Law School.

tiisetso thabana

Marketing & Communications Director

After graduating with a BCom (Law & Economics) from Rhodes University in the Republic of South Africa, Tiisetso spent over 9 years in ‘corporate South Africa’ working in the Financial Services sector. She started her career at Standard Bank within the Digital Channels division, where she grew to be responsible for the growth and management of the Mobile, Online and Messaging channels.

5 years later she expanded her marketing skill-set by becoming a Product Manager at FNB where she could determine the bank’s long-term and short-term strategy on product development. Here, she got the opportunity to define product marketing communication objectives, acquire product market share by improving product sales strategies, bring new products to market and determine product pricing by utilizing market research data, reviewing production and sales costs, anticipating volume etc.

She has recently completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management at University of KwaZulu Natal and joins the Tax Lab team as the brains behind the Marketing & Brand strategy. Her main objective is to ensure that we communicate and engage our broad set of clients in the best way possible and deliver on our brand promise of simplifying taxation.
